The Emerald Coast
Coasting On Idyll and Carillon are located along Florida's Emerald Coast. Rosemary Beach is just 2 miles west. Seaside and Water Color are 10 miles down State Road 30-A. Panama City Beach is located just a few miles east along Front Beach and Back Beach Road (Emerald Coast Parkway).
Four star restaurants abound-- one of our favorites is Cafe 30-A which is open 7days a week and is just 10 minutes from Carillon. While the cuisine is spectacular, the attire is strictly casual in most establishments. If you prefer to stay at home, you can stock up at Winn Dixie and Publix which are located across the street from Carillon.
If golf is your game, there are 8 courses within 15 miles of Carillon Beach. Two of the most popular are Camp Creek and Hombre. Hombre has 3 separate coursees (the Good, the Bad and the Ugly) which, as the names suggest, vary in difficulty. Completed just a few years ago, Camp Creek was designed by Tom Fazio. It is a challenging course. A few further miles down Back Beach Road (Emerald Coast Parkway) is an executive, Par 3 course which is also lit at night. For the younger set, there are at least 3 miniature golf couirses in Panama City Beach along with go-carts, bungee jumping, parasaling, arcades, a water park and multiple movie theaters. Pier Park, a new amusement, retail and restaurant complex is presently under construction.
If shopping (retail therapy) is high on your list of priorities, Silver Sands, the largest outlet mall in the Southeast, is located in San Destin, 18 miles west of Carillon. Wear comfortable shoes, or sneakers, Silver Sands has more than 200 stores, including Polo, Ann Taylor, Reebok, Coach, Saks Off 5th Avenue, Ellen Tracy, Little Me, Oshkosh, Nike, Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger.
